2021

The Nano RP2040 Connect is a feature packed Arduino Nano board built with one of Raspberry Pi’s newest silicone. It has several sensors, a dual core and  WiFi & Bluetooth connectivity which enables it to be used for various IoT applications. I worked on creating all the marketing visuals for this product. When we released the Nano RP2040 Connect, it was a rare product to have this many features in its size category.

It is also a product that is combining the power of Arduino and Raspberry Pi. That’s why, we dedicated a significant amount of energy for its launch campaign. For this project, I worked with creating the 3D assets, testing different concepts that my marketing colleagues came up with, scene creation, concept variations and 3D animation.

3D Modeling

As one of the key aspects of this product is that it is packed with features in a small   form factor, the decided slogan was “Tiny footprint, Might Features”. To emphasize this slogan, the developed concept was about  showing the board out of proportion, mighty, compared to its surrounding. Therefore, we choose to show the board with miniature figurines and massive structures such as mountains and city skylines. As we were working  with a big campaign and limited time, even though we purchased the rigged characters, I designed and modelled all the other assets. I modelled 7 different sets of scenes as the static assets for the communication of this campaign.

3D Animation

As the campaign concept and the static assets have been using these minuature-esque look and feel, for the 40 second product video, I decided to use a one  shot approach to accentiate the same created feeling. As the continuation of the mighty elements being cardboard cutout lookalike objects, for the  rest of the elements such as the computer and the phone, we chose to follow the same caricaturistic approach for consistency.   One of the challenges during this phase  was to make sure the different elements, a photorealistic board, charicaturised human figures and cardboard  cutout looking auxillary assets look harmonious with each other. That’s why, I invested a good amount of time for the material and lighting choices. Another challenge was to make the timing of the camera movements, apperaing and disappearing of the story elements work together with clever tricks prop placements.
